Who? What? Designers / Initiators

De Designpolitie is an Amsterdam-based creative agency focusing on the design and strategy of visual communication. Next to commissioned work for clients, De Designpolitie also initiates and produces design projects and events.

Clients
We work for clients in both non-profit and commercial sectors, with an emphasis on cultural and social organizations. For them we develop the creative direction, strategy and production of a wide range of design services: visual identities, books and magazines, websites and apps, communication campaigns, (interactive) infographics, typefaces, illustrations, events and exhibitions.

Designers & initiators
Next to our commissioned work, we are the initiators of the award-winning project Gorilla, a visual column on current affairs, which is published weekly in De Groene Amsterdammer. So far we have made thousands of ‘Gorillas’, which are compiled in this and this book, as well as in a digital archive. Gorilla has also been displayed in exhibitions around the world.

Also we are the initiators, curators and organizers of What Design Can Do, an international event and movement about the impact of design on society.

The founders
De Designpolitie was founded by Richard van der Laken and Pepijn Zurburg in 1995 and consists today of a small international team of talented and ambitious designers and producers. A fairly large network of specialists is at hand to help us with photography, film, web development, copywriting or event production.

Interested in an internship?

An internship at our studio consists of a period of 3 to 6 months and is available for students who are in or past their 3rd year of some form of higher design school.
We offer internships for graphic design, interaction design and design management students or recently graduated designers (under the Erasmus program).

Internship positions are usually filled 6 months up to a year in advance, so please keep this in mind when planning your internship.
